MINX ENERGIZES THE GLENDALE FOOTHILLS WITH
DINING & ENTERTAINMENT
Pairing world-class cuisine with trendsetting design,
MINX creates a scene befitting of its name(GLENDALE, CA)— The Ventura Freeway meanders through the Verdugo Mountains in Glendale, displaying below it the entire breadth of Southern California sparkling from L.A.’s downtown skyline to the Pacific Ocean. Now, tucked into the foothills above Los Angeles is MINX Restaurant & Lounge, a venue that captures the energy of the entire city. The innovative world cuisine of acclaimed chef Joseph Antonishek is matched by cutting-edge entertainment and a sleek indoor-outdoor design that takes full advantage of its unique location.
Operated by Mélange–L.A., MINX Restaurant & Lounge is the collaborative result of the most innovative young entrepreneurs, designers, culinary artisans and managers in the restaurant and nightlife industries. The venue’s multi-faceted décor was conceived by Margaret “Peg” O’Brien, principal of O’Brien & Associates Design, Inc., responsible for trendsetting destinations including Republic Restaurant & Lounge, Café La Bohème, Garden of Eden and Monsoon Café. At MINX, she has created a flowing, organic design, showcasing natural materials and eclectic cultural influences. The restaurant’s multiple spaces make it the perfect destination for dining outside in the mild California weather, enjoying after work cocktails, indulging at the chef’s table, dancing in the nightclub, and hosting private cabana soirées, events and corporate gatherings.
The cuisine at MINX is the product of celebrated chef Joseph Antonishek, who has manned the renowned kitchens of Coco Pazzo at the Mondrian Hotel, Fenix at the Argyle, the Raffles L’Ermitage Hotel, and West Hollywood’s O-Bar. Antonishek was recognized as one of the “Best Hotel Chefs in America” by the prestigious James Beard Foundation, one of many honors bestowed upon this charismatic toque. At MINX he has created a globally inspired menu that displays artistry while challenging traditional culinary boundaries. “Our cuisine is influenced by the sensual and spicy flavors acquired from many cultures across the globe, fused together to bring guests the world on a plate,” comments the daring chef.
Antonishek’s starters include such innovative items as Black Truffle Filet Mignon Tartare with Roasted Fingerling-Golden Beet Salad, Black Tea Marbled Quail Eggs and Mushroom Essence ($11); Pan-Fried One-Half Lobster with Basil Mashed Potatoes, Pea Sprouts and Thai Infused Tomato-Lemongrass Sauce ($16); a selection of Sushi Rolls such as Jumbo Crab with Quail Egg and Sevruga ($12) and Farmer’s Market Vegetable ($7); and Fusion Robata items (e.g. Chicken Tika Masala, Filet Mignon with Korean Barbecue Glaze). Among entrées, guests will find Braised Short Rib with Lobster Mashed Potatoes, Heirloom Beans and “Creamed” Corn Sauce ($26); Harissa-Glazed New Zealand Rack of Lamb with Yellow Beans, Minted Cous Cous Salad and Elephant Garlic Jus ($24); and Grilled Salmon with Ginger-Hoisin Glaze, Baby Bok Choy and Sesame Noodles with Wok-Charred Calamari ($19). A diverse California-based wine list complements the chef’s unique multi-cultural cuisine.
MINX also offers a unique nightlife experience that is perfectly balanced against O’Brien’s design and Antonishek’s cooking. MINX Lounge, headed by General Manager Michael Palmer (previously of Garden of Eden and Mood nightclubs), ensures exceptional service and entertainment featuring a cutting-edge vibe and uptown style. The scene includes hip DJs, big-name live performances, private cabanas and VIP areas, premium bottle service, and signature cocktails. A fast favorite is the flashy specialty concoction, “MINX-Rated Martini,” which Palmer—himself one of L.A.’s top mix-masters—suggests is “destined to paint the town pink.”
MINX Restaurant & Lounge is located at 300 Harvey Drive in Glendale, near the convergence of the Glendale (2) and Ventura (134) Freeways, convenient to downtown L.A., Hollywood, the Valley and Pasadena.
